WHO IS JOE?

Joe is an Australian citizen, and like many travelers he fell in love with Cambodia and decided to call it home. He knew nothing of dogs before he moved here.

He felt driven to start helping the dogs after encountering strays in awful physical condition and learning about the dog snatchers of the meat trade that capture, butcher and BBQ dogs for meat. Yes, it is still happening. Working closely with brave rescue teams in the capital city and elsewhere, Joe and K.D.S. receive larger breeds others are unable to house, aggressive breeds others may not have the experience to handle and more.

His 'there is always room at the Inn' attitude and over sized heart are what shaped K.D.S. and his love and thoughtful treatment of the dogs are what give these pure souls a chance at the good life they deserve.

The answer is PROBABLY!

Our doors are open to the public. We have a beautiful riverside bar that is the VIP area for the safe and sociable pooches. You can pet the pooches, enjoy a hot coffee or cold beer and take in the view in K9 company.

You might even catch us taking the dogs out for a play one of our paddle boards. If you haven't seen the infamous Guappa the Whoppa do a Belly Slappa into into the river, you're missing out!

We are working on pup profiles, a newsletter and developing our presence on social media to keep you up to date with our behind the scenes.

We hope to offer dog sponsorship soon.

This website is being built by a friend of the sanctuary and there is more to come.

My name is Alex and I have lived in Kampot for two years, seeing the great work Joe and the team do, I wanted to help. I am no tech expert so that's why the site is simple! 

Just like them, I wanted to offer help with what I have. I hope you can too. My family and I have adopted two dogs from the Sanctuary and received fantastic support throughout the process. We are part of the K.D.S. family now, we will help Joe and his team as best we can. 

I have seen the toll it takes to meet the needs of the dogs, it is stressful work! A burden that, as the owner of two dogs, I can not even being to imagine the weight of. Help to ease the burden and donate what you can and share far and wide please.
